Meeting with Your Advisor

Once you have declared your major, you will receive an advisor. Full-time faculty members serve as our undergraduate advisors in the Department of English. To locate your advisor, please direct your browser to my.cofc.edu and click on the Academic Services tab. Scroll down and on the left hand side of the page, you will see your "Academic Profile." There you will find your class standing, your major, and your advisor with links to their emails.

Meeting with your advisor every semester is before registration is an important part in guiding your English studies. Before seeing your advisor check out our Current and Upcoming Courses page to get a better idea of what the department is offering. Your advisor will give you advice on classes, remove holds, discuss progress towards graduation and provide important information for you in your undergraduate career; they can also help you with graduate school or postgraduate career planning.

Holds

A hold is placed on each student's account before registration every semester. This hold ensures that all of our majors are receiving crucial information in their undergraduate career, including credit and graduation information.

Registration

Now that you've met with your advisor and have carefully selected your courses for next semester, you may register for classes. The dates for registration are based on credits already earned. The registration dates can be found here.
